Basic Drawing |
|
| Are you a beginner with the urge to draw or do you feel you are missing some essential grounding in your artwork? This class will cover all the basic principles of drawing. Learn to draw accurately and to apply structure, tonal values, composition and colour theory. |

Botanical Drawing and Painting |
|
| Have you ever wanted to draw and paint plants and flowers? Learn how to draw realistically, transfer drawings, mix and glaze colours, stretch paper, wet and dry techniques, and apply details. |

Calligraphy |
|
Join our class and be introduced to the enjoyable art of calligraphy. Each term a new script will be taught. In Term 3 we will explore a Modern Batarde script. Simple gilding techniques will be taught and combined with the script to produce a small scroll. In Term 4 we will explore Copperplate and apply the script to projects with a Christmas theme.
You will be guided through basic layout, colour and design and the use of gouache. Individual attention will be given to each student in a friendly learning environment. Continuing students are most welcome. A starter’s kit will be available from the tutor at first class (approx. $40).

Creative Response Drawing |
|
| Enrich and extend your basic drawing skills in a stimulating and relaxed class environment. Use your fundamental drawing skills to further develop your self-expression and confidence with drawing. We will explore various methods of mark-making, from the humble pencil, to conte charcoal, pen and wash, pastel, crayon, gouache and watercolour. Learn to develop a personal style that draws on the artist within. Previous basic drawing skills required. |

Creative Water Colour |
|
Discover your creativity through water colour. You will learn sound water colour techniques along with special effects, i.e. wax resist, salt effects including ink pen work to enhance your art works. Enjoy some lively and personal creative outcomes in this fun and friendly class.

Drawing |
|
A six week course designed for those people who would like to learn basic drawing skills and for those who have long held the urge to draw but were handicapped through lack of knowledge. Any one who has ever watched children drawing would be struck byt heir obvious pleasure and innate trust of drawing. A major aim of the course is to remember the pleasure that was once taken in the simple act of drawing and to build a skill-set around that pleasure.
Students would be encouraged to draw the "real" and resist copying from photographs. A variety of subject matter will be used in the last 2 lessons live model. The language of drawing, of picture makiing, line, tone and composition would be continually reinforced with short exercises but the major emphasis would be individual tutoring. |
