Community Choir |
|
The Marian Street Community Choir aims to provide a
welcoming, supportive environment for people to sing
regardless of their musical background. The choir is led and
conducted by Andrew Chessher, a music educator and musical
director. A wide repertoire will range from Baroque cantatas,
through the Classical and Romantic periods to contemporary
choral writing, Broadway songs and other modern material
suggested by members of the choir and arranged for the abilities
and talents of the choir. Come along and sing your heart out! |

Guitar Beginners and Beyond |
|
Students will learn to play guitar in a relaxed and non pressure setting. They will learn chords and many aspects of self
accompaniment when singing or just simply strumming or picking along with their favourite recordings. They will learn to play
melodies and tunes and learn the most popular and well known “guitar licks”. The basics of some musical notation will be also be
taught and expanded on, if suitable. Those students who have already made a journey into learning guitar will be able to consolidate their knowledge and expand on it as desired. Most importantly, they will all learn how to make music! |

Piano Accordion for Beginners and Beyond |
|
The Piano Accordion is becoming increasingly popular in recent years. Its joyous sound and the possibility of playing both melody and accompaniment attracts adults and children to this wonderful instrument. So if you are ready
to start your accordion journey, join us on this workshop.
You will learn folk and popular tunes from around the world with and without music score, rhythms and harmonies, accompaniment by ear, specific bellow techniques and much more, combined with good posture and positive
attitude. Everyone will be encouraged to write their own tune or song at the end of the class and participate in our mini accordion ensemble. Please let us know if you have your
own accordion or want to borrow one of ours. |

Piano Essentials |
|
An accelerated course for adult beginners in piano skills, music
notation, rhythm training, singing and music appreciation. Get
those fingers going in a fun and unpressured environment with
the latest in keyboard lab technology. All styles of music are
experienced, from classical through to jazz and funk. Assumes
very little or no previous musical experience. Students learn in a
classroom of digital pianos. Students will use headphones so that
the tutor can provide more individualised instruction. Students
must purchase the Super Starters book for $25 from AMS.
