Booklovers - Old and New, Read and View |

A four week course looking at novels and how they have been adapted for the screen. What has been left out, what aspects are emphasised, does the casting show the characters as we imagined them, what striking differences are there, what has been achieved by the screenplay? These and many more questions will be explored in our discussions.
The novels we will be looking at (and their films)are:

Bushwalking - Ecology, Heritage & Fitness |

Discover the magnificence of the Sydney Region's best wilderness and scenic areas. Historical, heritage and Aboriginal sites are visited as well as diverse bushland habitats which include exceptional geologic features, wildflowers, special eco-communities and some muddy or slippery trails. You will need suitable shoes such as trainers or boots, small backpack to carry your own lunch, water, cold and wet weather clothing, sunhat and sunscreen. All care will be taken with safety but ultimately your welfare must be your own responsibility. Please note that the minimum age for these walks is 18 years. Each walk includes numerous rest stops and extended lunch break. Billy tea is brewed for you at lunch on some walks.

| In response to feedback from previous students, the course has been extended to allow more time for personal research in an assisted environment.Many are internet based, so basic computing skills will be an advantage but not essential. While the primary focus will be on research in Australia and UK, the skills are largely universal, and some time can be allocated if other countries are of interest. Topics covered include software programs, basic recording, BDM,Census, Migration & Convict records, and a variety of other resources as well as charting and presentation. No student yet has finished the course without generations of new ancestors. |

In this workshop you will be guided through a range of simple techniques you can use everyday to help you relax and manage stress.
The workshop will commence with some background exploration into the benefits of relaxation and why you should use it. This will be followed by demonstrating and practicing a range of wimple techniques that you can take away and apply in your own life. |
