HKCC Education on Course

This project is funded by the Australian Government through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET). The purpose of the funding is a much needed refurbishment of the College at 45 Hunter St Hornsby.

The purpose-specific refurbishment of the facility will enable the College to:

  • Provide improved access and facility support to students with a disability
  • Build on its established links with Employment Service Providers to meet the increasing demand for retraining opportunities for the unemployed
  • Improve support for government funded programs e.g. Linked Skills & Traineeships
  • Upgrade of computer facilities necessary for the delivery of accredited vocational training
  • Provide a sustainable model for future training initiatives
  • Improve facility support for literacy and numeracy training to provide a pathway into or support training within the VET system (e.g. Aged Care & Bookkeeping qualifications
  •  Expand its delivery in areas of I/T, Finance, Business Services and Training and Assessment
  •  Support key areas of need, specifically identified in NSW Department of Education and Training’s Strategic Plan for Vocational Education and Training 2008-2010
  •  Enable flexible training delivery using recognition of prior learning, course work, mixed pathways and mutual recognition

Provide increased opportunities to partner with local high schools for training in the VET schools program  The refurbishment project will commence during December.

Completion of the project is planned for early February to enable delivery of courses from Term 1, 2010
