Ceramic Art
Create your own colourful plates and bowls, designer lamp bases, feature tiles or tabletops. In this course you will create your own individual pieces working at your pace with the assistance of our friendly teachers. Have a go at sgraffito, painting, crystal glazing, wash away, erosion technique, stained glass style of glazing, the puffy paint of the ceramic world, air brushing, wet carving, overglazes, fabric draping and much more. Regularly there is a lesson where we teach you about a product or technique in ceramics. No artistic talent or drawing skills are needed (ask us about crystal glazes) as the teachers will help you step by step to create beautiful pieces. We also have many examples to inspire you and lots of patterns to trace or draw from. Materials are extra. You just need a sense of adventure and to have a go. Bring $75 to the first class to cover first project and tools.
Mosaics
Immerse yourself in the richness of colours and tradition of this ancient art form while creating your own designer mosaic wall plaques, tables, mirrors and bird baths. In this nine week course you will create two small projects using the indirect and direct methods of construction. After mastering these two projects you will create your own designer mosaic. Materials are extra. Within the course you will learn how to prepare your base, cut tiles, methods of laying the tiles, colour selection and the use of colour to create tone, different adhesives, use of coloured grout and grout application and the final touches to complete the mosaic.
