Pottery and Ceramics
Beginners and experienced potters welcome!
Introduction to the basic skills of hand building - pinch, coil and slab construction in earthenware/stoneware clay and glaze. Please note there is no wheel work in this course.
Create bowls, mugs, jugs, vases, garden ware and clay sculptures in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
No experience necessary, work at your own pace.
Experienced students are encouraged to pursue projects of special interest to them.
What to Bring:
• Pottery tools
you can purchase a cheap set of tools from a bargain store or art supplies shop - these come in a pack with sponge, wire, wooden tools, and metal pin tool or alternatively you can find things to suit around your home including knife, fork, skewers etc.
• Glazing tools
Hogs bristle brushes various sizes or hake brushes can be purchased from $2 dollar stores or art shops.
• An apron
• Glad wrap
• plastic bag(s)
• CHUX
• Bucket to carry home tools - which will need to be cleaned off site.
• Container for water (recycled yoghurt container)
• small, lidded container to hold slurry
• Newspaper
Note: please don’t worry if you are unable to have all items for the first night.
Additional material cost of $50 to be paid to your tutor please - this covers Clay, Glazes and firing for the Term.
