CHC43015 Certificate IV Ageing Support

Join the fastest growing industry in Australia, Ageing Support. If you are new currently working in the industry or want to work in with people who are ageing, then this is the course for you.

The Certificate IV Ageing Support will give you the skills to enhance your career or commence a new one. It reflects the role of support workers who complete, facilitate or manage specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. These support workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. In the work environment, they may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Work roles requiring Certificate IV may include:

  • Team Leader
  • Allocations Coordinator
  • Field Supervisor
  • Aged Care Assessor

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency, or be currently working in the aged care industry.

Prerequisite

This course has been developed for graduates of the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support and persons with current industry experience who wish to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning - RPL for their current work experience skills.

Students must have an intermediate level of written and spoken English language.

A current police check will be required.

If you are planning on working and/or completing your mandatory work placement within an NDIS registered organisation, you may be required to also complete an NDIS worker screening check. More information on this check can be found on https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/ndiswc.

A current COVID and flu vaccinations will be required.

Student may apply for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) at $200 per unit of competency.

Fees

Subsidised (including fee-free) places under the Department of Education's Smart and Skilled Program are available for this qualification. Students may enrol into the whole course for a Fee-for-Service cost of $4,000 (paid in instalments of less than $1,500 throughout the course).

Cost does not include First Aid training. Most employers require First Aid training.

Traineeship may be available for eligible students.

Attendance is required

Classes are held at Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Community College, Level 1, 45 Hunter Street, Hornsby. Online attendance via Zoom is an option in some classes.

Work Placement

During this course learners are required to complete 120 hours of clinical placement.
