About JobTrainer

JobTrainer helps build a stronger and more resilient workforce. 

It gives people the skills businesses need. This includes high demand areas like construction, aged care and digital skills. 

It's part of a $637 million program funded by the NSW government and Australian government.  

The program is providing over 250,000 vocational training places.

It will run until 31 December 2022

Training Services NSW manages the program in NSW.

How it works 

JobTrainer improves access to training for jobseekers, students and workers.  

It does this by offering: 

  • fee-free training*  
  • full and part qualification courses 
  • personalised support to find and get training 
  • bespoke state, regional and localised services.

Who is eligible 

To get fee-free* training, people must  

meet the Smart and Skilledlaunch eligibility criteria and  

be one (or more) of the following: 

  • Job seeker. This includes someone who is unemployed, on income support payments or expected to become unemployed (but there’s specific criteria for construction – see below this list). 
  • Young person (including school leaver) aged 16-24, regardless of employment status 
  • NSW veteran and their recognised partner or spouse 
  • Any individual (including an employed person) seeking fee-free* training in specific full and part qualifications in: 
    • aged care, childcare, disability care
    • digital skills or  
    • Training and Assessment (TAE).
