Cooking and Collaboration with OzHarvest

Learn about healthy eating and nutrition!

We are able to offer this program thanks to OzHarvest. Their NEST (Nutrition Education & Skills Training) Program is a six-week nutrition and health education program where participants learn essential life skills on healthy eating and easy, affordable cooking in a friendly, fun, and supportive environment. Their wonderful program not only provides valuable life-skills in cooking and nutrition knowledge but also helps to reduce social isolation and marginalisation that many of our participants experience.

OzHarvest's NEST teaches you new skills for better health in just six weeks.

  • Save money on your food budget
  • Store food safely
  • Understand food labels
  • Plan meals and reduce waste
  • Cook easy and healthy recipes

Those participants who enrol and attend weekly will also be supplied with an OzHarvest Every Day Cookbook and be invited to a Graduation Lunch in Surry Hills - date tbc.

Aimed at community members living with learning disabilities and intellectual, physical disabilities or mental health challenges. The venue is fully accessible. Participants must be able to understand and follow directions to stay safe in the kitchen.

Term 3, 2025
Commencing 25th July 2025, 11am-1.30pm, x 6 weeks. Location: HireUp, 120 Pacific Highway, Greenwich NSW 2065

Prior to commencement of program, we will collect information on any food allergies and sensitivities.

Note: Closed shoes must be worn in the program, and if you have long hair, it must be tied back. Please ensure clothing worn is not too loose where it could cause a safety concern or catch fire.

We are proudly delivering projects for the Peer Support and Capacity Building (PSCB) grant for the NDIS.

There is no cost to enrol.

PLEASE CLICK JOIN TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU REGARDING THE ENROLMENT PROCESS. As part of our grant, there are certain eligibility criteria for the program.
